My tax credit ($87) for 401K contribution requires filing Turbotax Deluxe for $143. Can I not claim the tax credit and file Turbotax Free to save the $56 difference? How?

Go back to the My Info section of the program and edit your personal information.  Change your occupation to Student so the credit will be removed and you will not need the Deluxe edition.
