My sole incomeI for the last two years New York is not taxable. Last year I had a 401K minimum distribution and interest on CDs. How do I file?

What should my tax return include?

Report all your income.  If you have exclusions from New York, that will be figured out on your state return automatically.  (The federal government taxes all your income, including part of social security depending on your other income.  New York does not tax social security benefits and gives you a $20,000 exclusion from other retirement income (or a full exclusion if it is a state employee pension).
