My Pension 1099-R from NJ does not include boxes past 13. I live in SC. No taxes were taken out. Is this taxable in SC?

It does not include anything in Box 13 “State/Payer’s State number”.  I know it is taxable on Federal return, but what about SC?  I take the mandatory RMD.

Only partially.  SC provides a deduction of up to $10,000 of retirement income for an individual who is age 65 or older ($3,000 if you're under 65).

The following are not taxed by South Carolina:

  • Social Security;
  • Railroad retirement;
  • Disability retirement; and
  • Military retirement
