The income you receive from your mother-in-law as a caregiver for a family member is taxable income, but it is not subject to self-employment tax.

You should report the income on line 21 of Form 1040.  In TurboTax:

  1.  Go to Federal Taxes,
  2.  Select Wages & Income,
  3.  Select Less Common Income,
  4.  Select Miscellaneous Income,
  5.  Select Other Reportable Income to report this income.

I am sorry about the passing of your mother-in-law.
