My military retirement keeps being taxed on my Louisiana state tax program. How can I get it to be tax exempt as it should be?

The tax program keeps deducting only $6,000.00 of my retirement income and it is all exempt.

As you go through the Louisiana interview in TurboTax, you should come to a screen entitled "Any Other Income Exclusions?" On this screen (see screen shot below), click on 04E as the type of income.

Enter the amount of your military pension here.

I tried that twice and TurboTax keeps telling me its already calculated and removes the entry.  When I review completed forms, the schedule E (La state) is all zeros and I am paying tax on all income.  Have I entered the 1099-r data incorrectly on the federal side maybe?

@bryontro You could go back to your Federal 1099-R entry, and Delete/Re-Enter it.  With some states, you may get a follow-up screen asking about your State Exclusion.

The screen may not come up if you only choose to Edit.

In other states, the State Exclusion question will come up in the State Interview.
