My husband died in 2/2022. The system keeps telling me to fix his social security benefits because they are less than mine. Why isn't it recognizing that he's deceased?

On the Social Security Benefits Worksheet they keep trying to get me to fix his SS benefits because they're lower than an earlier year's lump sum benefit. He died. That's why it's lower. I can't make up a number. What do I do?

I assume that you receive two forms for Social Security for 2022 and entered them as received.  Please make sure that you included his DOD (Date of Death) on the tax return.  If all of that is in order, then you must have a computer loop that is causing this error.

Let's try to clear your history and delete cookies.  Here is how:

Cookies are small files that temporarily store data on your computer. We use them to personalize your experience so you see information you already entered and not items that are irrelevant or repetitive.

On rare occasions, they may make your browser think you already did something that you still need to do. To fix that, you'll need to delete (clear) the cookies from your browser.

Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

Please reboot your computer after.  Hopefully this helps.
