My father passed in 2021 and I received a payment from his SS for $665. I did get an SSA-1099 in the mail for this payment. Do I need to mark it as anything special?

I just don't know if there is a way I need to mark this as a one time payment or inherited?  Or just file it as SSA and move on.

If you received a SSA-1099 under your name and your social security number, you need to include it on your tax return.  Whether a portion of it will be taxable or not will depend on your overall income for 2022.  The following steps should assist you:

  1. Click on "Wages & Income"
  2. Scroll down to "Retirement & Social Security", click "show more"
  3. Click on "Start" at social security
  4. Answer the questions and enter the data on the following screens.

There is nothing special you need to indicate.  Just enter it and move on.
