Moving states and 1099R state distribution amounts don't match time in each state

I moved from DE to SC in 2022. I spent 20% of the year in DE and 80% of the remainder of the year in SC. On the 1099R forms for pension and annuities, the $$ amounts in box 16, state distributions, do not reflect this though there are $$ amounts attributed to each state. Do I use the amounts in the 1099R state distributions listed in box 16 when completing my state tax forms in each state? In other words, do the amounts used in each of the state tax forms have to match the 1099R forms state distribution amounts in box 16? OR should the amounts reflect the percentage of time spent in each state?

You will enter exactly what is on your 1099Rs.

You will file a part-year resident return for both DE and SC. Part of the entry for the states will allow you to attribute your income to the appropriate state. This is where you will enter the amount relevant to each state.

Watch the entry screens carefully when you are entering this information, and reach out if you have any questions about the entry. You will want to start with your DE return first, followed by your SC return.
