Military retirement is considered a non-qualified plan.

The term "qualified retirement plan" applies to plans covered by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, or ERISA. ERISA only covers private sector retirement plans. The law does not cover public sector pensions including federal government plans such as the military retirement system. Military pensions are therefore considered nonqualified plans.

Why are you saying it is incorrect? The website that was noted is the correct site and provides the correct answer. What is your rational for saying it is incorrect?

I believe the answer is correct based on a lot of research!  I would also say when a statement is made that an answer is incorrect the person should go on to say why it is incorrect.  Otherwise it is not helpful and I'm sure you did not intend to create concern for those that relied on your answer.

This is prplrose.  I just received an email about this message.  I did pose the question about whether military retirement or widow annuities are qualified or unqualified.  However,  I did not post any further communications about this.  I cannot imagine that there are two people going by prplrose and it is very disturbing that someone else has communicated on a question I asked as if they were me.  Not sure what is going on but I want anyone that reads the exchange noted that I did not write any of that whether correct or not.  Please do not rely on any answers or further communications from this particular exchange other than the question itself indicating it is the author of the question.  Thank you.
