No, an IRA is a individual retirement account, which you set up and manage.  OPERS is the state of Ohio government workers pension- it is an employer sponsored plan under section 457.

Thank you. Is there any deduction or credit for OPERS then?

I'm trying to figure this out as well. How come OPERS contributions do not get coded as a qualified retirement plan contribution on the W2 form for the purpose of the retirement savings contribution credit? Am I missing something?
