Is a Pension Distribution considered an RMD? Need to know which box to check.

Nearly any pension plan that makes monthly payments to you is calculated to cover the RMD for that pension. So for a pension, you are generally safe to answer that the pension distribution is an RMD.

 

The issue for most taxpayers are RMDs for IRA, SEP-IRAs, and the like.

Yes, you should say that all of the pension distribution is an RMD.
