This form is used to report contributions, including any catch-up contributions, rollovers, repayments, required minimum distributions (RMDs), and the fair market value (FMV) of the account. Box 7. May show the kind of IRA reported on this Form 5498. it's not, then you can reach out to Schwab for that information.
If you are looking at form 1099-R, the form is used to report distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, Insurance Contracts, etc.
The code(s) in Box 7 of your Form 1099-R helps identify the type of distribution you received.
You mean the little IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box that is between boxes 7&8 on a 1099R? Why did you get the 1099R? If you don't know why you got it you better ask Schwab. What code is in box 7? Did you ever rollover another plan like a 401k to an IRA account? Did you inherit the account?
