If I was in a nursing home and received long term care benefits to pay for a portion of the monthly nursing home fee, do I pay taxes on that?

I received a statement for the form 1099-LTC

No, you will report the payments,, but you will not be taxed. 

Similar to a HSA, as long these payments are for care, you are not taxed.
