if I did not make any non-deductable ira contribution this (2018) year, but made one last(2017) year. Will 8606 be not generated for 2018 tax filing?
I have form 8606 generated for 2017 taxes, is something expected to be generated for 2018 as well that carries the past year's non-deductable IRA amount info?
No Form 8606 is to be included with your 2018 tax return if you did nothing that would change your basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions, made no Roth conversions and made no nonqualified Roth IRA distribution. Your 2017 Form 8606 is still current with respect to your basis in nondeductible traditional IRA contributions; be sure to save it for future reference.
TurboTax carries your basis information on its IRA Information Worksheet. TurboTax transfers this in when you transfer in you previous year's tax return to begin your current year's tax return.
Thanks, I did enter my 2017 basis amount and 0 for 2018 non-deductable ira. When I print my return, I don’t see any 8606 generated. What am I missing?
You are missing nothing. Your 2018 tax return should *not* include Form 8606 because you made no new nondeductible contributions for 2018, made no traditional IRA distributions or conversions in 2018, and made no nonqualified Roth IRA distributions in 2018.
