If I am retired and just do ad hoc consulting what edition is the right one for me?

Does the IRS consider me self employed if I am retired a occasionally get paid for some consulting work?

Yep, they sure do, and they expect you to report that income on Schedule C.

If you have no expenses associated with the revenue you receive then any version above the Free Edition will help you create a Schedule C-EZ.  If you do have expenses then you need to upgrade all the way to the TurboTax Self-Employed version.
