I think i might have put in something wrong because before i put in a 1099R i was getting a return of about 500 dollars and after i put in my 1099R i was getting 2000?

It depends on how much was withheld or if it was marked not taxable when it should have been taxable. Go over your answers and make sure you answered everything correctly. Also, a blank box 2 Taxable Amount is not the same as zero. If it is blank, leave it blank.
