I said NO to the question about taking any withdrawal for a qualified disaster retirement plan distribution but the system will not remove the form, please help!

My return says: Form 8915F-T
Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments Available by mail 02/16/23. Cannot E File.  I have never had a problem e-filing in 8 years. I said no to the question and it still wants to add the form even though I never had any withdrawals for Cares Act or qualified disaster at all? I dont know how to make this form go away.

It depends. If you took a Disaster Relief Distribution in previous years, then the program is asking you to report the remaining portion of the the taxable distribution. If this isn't the case, try going to tax tools>tools>delete a form. Delete FORM 8915-F.

I have the same issue with the Form 8915F and not being able to file. I tried deleting the form like you suggested, but that didn't work. I didn't receive any disaster relief in any years (past and present) and answered NO to all the questions. How can this be corrected?

To confirm you deleted both "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then answered "no" to the questions if you took a disaster distribution in prior years but you are still getting an error.

It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file that is experiencing this issue. You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions for TurboTax Online

  1. From the left menu select Tax Tools.
  2. Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
  3. A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
  4. On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
  5. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
  6. Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

The instructions for TurboTax Download

  1. On your menu bar at the very top, click "Online"
  2. Select "Send Tax File to Agent"
  3. Click "Send"
  4. The pop-up will have a token number
  5. Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.

An agent's response from last year answered my question and I was able to resolve it with their solution. I can't find the post again so I can't copy the actions to take.

03/28/2022

I had the same problem.

Deleted the form multiple times, selected no to the distribution choices multiple times.

The form kept reappearing.

I deleted the Worksheet, Viola! the Form 8915-F deleted by itself.  No error during the review.

[FYI: I had the session in Form view to see the form 8915-F and its worksheet]

How do I delete the worksheet?

I have the forms view, went to form 8915F-T, clicked on it, at the bottom pressed delete form; was asked do you really want to delete the form? Said yes, and form did not disappear; instead I have a red exclamation mark in front of it (all the other forms are ok).

This is frustrating...

Can't file my taxes because Turbo Tax insists on having the form completed

You need to delete the "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distribution and Repayment Worksheet"  (8915E wks). Please follow these steps in TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Switch to Forms mode on the top
  2. Scroll down and select "8915E wks"
  3. Click "delete" and confirm the deletion
  4. Switch to Step-by-Step and run the smart check again (don't go back into the retirement section).
