I said I don't know if I received a 1099-R form and likely didn't. Now turbotax is making me input and review a form I probably never got. I don't know what to do.

If I add all zeros or just skip it, is it fraud? I have no way to even look up whether I got one. Isn't this something the government ought to know and can fill out the blanks?

A form filled out with all zeroes cannot be e-filed. If you do not have a form 1099-R, you have to delete it in TurboTax.

To delete it, please follow these steps:

  1. In TurboTax, open your return
  2. In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools
  3. On the Tools Center  page, click on Delete a form
  4. A list of forms will appear. Locate the form 1099-R and click Delete next to it.
  5. On the next screen, click Delete Form
