I retired from the Military. I've also retired fro the Postal Service. To get a larger Postal retirement, I bought my military retirement back Is that deductible?

Unfortunately, there's not a deduction you can take for a military retirement buy-back.

However, you won't have to pay income tax on the portion of your retirement pay that represents the amount you paid in for this buy-back, because that income will have already been taxed.

@TurboTaxJohnW15  isn't that a deduction, spread over the years of retirement.?

I'm sure you could consider it that way... I was just thinking in terms of a deduction taken on a return in the year of the buyback.  🙂
