I received Workers' compensation benefits. Where do I put the amount I received to have it taken off my taxable income. My work added it to my taxable income.

I just want to know what line to put the amount I received in Workers' compensation benefits. This amount can't be taxed.

If you received a Form W-2 with worker's compensation entered as wages or other taxable income you need to contact your employer to get a corrected W-2.

You cannot remove the amount on the W-2 yourself since the IRS received a copy of this W-2 as written.

Workers' compensation benefits aren’t taxable and shouldn’t be claimed on your yearly tax statements. Here’s what you need to know:

Non-Taxable Benefits: Workers' compensation benefits are not taxable and should not be included in your taxable income

W-2 Form: You’ll still receive a W-2 if you earned taxable wages in the same tax year that you received workers’ comp benefits. However, the W-2 should not include your workers' compensation benefits. If it does, please contact your employer for a corrected W-2
