If you do not have a 1099-R to enter and need to delete, follow these instructions.

1.  Go to Federal.

2.  Select Wages and Income.

3.  Choose Edit/Add next to IRS, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).

4.  The next page shows Summary of what has been entered.  Click on delete to the right of the edit button.

This didn't work for me. There is not an add/edit option in the 2021 version, only an Update option. When I hit update an answer No to the" Did you have any of these kinds of income in 2021" quesiton , Turbotax appears to accept a No answer and moves to the next screen but the 1099 reappears when I exit out of the section. I had entered Yes by mistake originally.  I can put an amount of 0 in the form but not sure if that will cause problems for the IRS since I did not actually have a distribution

@DaveD61  Putting a zero in the form will not cause any issues with the IRS since they will never see any form that only has zeroes on it.  You should also be able to click the little trashcan next to any 1099-R generated by the system and that will help.  But you won't be hurt by zeroes.

The turbotax system continues to default this as "needs review" (unable to hit edit/delete). I keep answering "no" to the questions regarding IRA, 401k pension. It appears it's not saving my answers and continues to show that I haven't completed it (even though I have).

Any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You can delete forms individually outside of the interview questions in TurboTax.  Once you delete the forms, you can re-enter the forms in the interview as needed.

In desktop versions:

  1. Select the "Forms View" at the top right of your page.
  2. Find the 1099R(s) in the left hand menu.
  3. Select each 1099R
  4. Click "Delete Form" at the bottom of the page.

In online versions:

  1. Select "Tax Tools" in the left hand menu\
  2. Select "Tools"
  3. Select "Delete a form" from the main screen
  4. Find each 1099R
  5. "Delete"
  6. "Confirm Deletion"
