I'm being asked if I contributed to a Traditional or Roth IRA. I did via my 401K plan. On my W2 they are characterized in block 12 as D and AA. Does that count?

If you have retirement plan deferrals shown on your W-2 in box 12 and have not contributed to a IRA outside of your employer plan do not enter anything further on the tax return concerning retirement plan contributions.
