I'm a US / Australia dual citizen - I have a superannuation (pension) fund in Australia which I cannot access until I retire - do I need to include this on my tax return?

If you didn't receive any distribution from your superannuation (pension) fund, there's nothing to report about it on your US tax return.

thank you - what about the FBAR and Form 8938 - do I need to submit those?

If the value of your superannuation account meets the filing requirement thresholds, it must be reported on the FBAR (FinCen Report 114) and Form 8938 in accordance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). For a chart that shows FBAR and Form 8938 see the following: Comparison of Form 8938 and FBAR requirements
