I have retired on 30 Sep 2016 from Home Depot. Turbo Tax is wanting me to update a W2 and I was sent a 1099-R. The blocks don't match up with the W2 that is in TURBOTA

If you received a 1099-R, you don't enter it where a W-2 is entered. Delete anything you have tried to enter onto a W-2. Use the search function in the upper right. Type 1099-R in the search box. Click on jump to 1099-R.

You should also be getting a W-2, to cover your earnings prior to retirement. Employers have until January 31st to send out their W-2's.
