Are you sure you are entering it in the right place?

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

And who is issuing the Retirment form?

IF from the US Government (from OPM, not DFAS), those are not plain 1099-R forms, they are CSA-0199-R or CSF-1099-R forms that do have some different numbering.

__________

IF the 1099-R is form certain City or State Retirment systems, I've seen a couple of reports where boxes numbered higher than ~10 are mis-numbered vs. the proper IRS 1099-R form number system.  In those situations, you need to match the subject of those higher numbered boxes to what is presented in the TTX software forms before putting the $$ into their proper boxes.  The TTX forms are numbered properly.
