Form 1099-G is used to report certain government payments, including unemployment compensation and state tax refunds. Many types of 1099-G income are taxable.

To enter your 1099-G in TurboTax:

  • Continue working on your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
  • Click Tax Tools (lower left of your screen).
  • Select Tools.
  • In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
  • In the I'm looking for: bar, type 1099-g.
  • In the results box, scroll down and select the applicable 1099-g, then click GO. (Click the screenshot below for reference.) For example, select 1099-g, unemployment compensation if you received the form to report your unemployment benefits.
