Code 7 means these are normal distributions from your retirement plan(s).

To enter your retirement plan distributions, reported on Form 1099-R:

  •  Open (continue) your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in, click Take me to my return.)
  • Click My Account (top right of your screen).
  • Select Tools. In the pop-up window, select Topic Search
  • In the search bar, type 1099-r
  • In the results box, highlight 1099-r, then click GO.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions. When you are finished entering your first 1099-R, you'll see Your 1099-R Entries. (Click the screenshot below to enlarge it for reference.) Click +Add another 1099-R and continue through the interview to add the second 1099-R.
  • Repeat the process again to add a third 1099-R, and so on. When you are finished adding your 1099-Rs, click Continue to answer the follow-up questions for the retirement distributions.

Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "My Account") to search for the topic.
