I had mutual fund captial gains distributions but TT is not filing schedule d. Why not? My kids under 18 have them too and TT is filing schedule D. Why the difference?

Thanks.

Schedule D is a schedule which accompanies the Form 1040.  For some taxpayers you may not be required to file the Form 1040, but can instead file the Form 1040A or 1040EZ.  So long as you have not triggered another reason to have to file the Form 1040, you may be able to list your capital gain distributions on the Form 1040A line 10.  I have included a link to the IRS Form 1040A instructions below which go over Capital gain distributions. Page 26 has the information.
