I had excess 401K contributions and added extra as misc. income.Turbo Tax will not let me file taxes since the W2 sum still exceeds max contribution, what do I do?

After making the correction indicated in the help to add the excess contribution as Misc. Income and withdrawing the money from the 401K it seems all is corrected, however Turbo Tax will not let me file as it says there still is an error since the W2 sum is greater than the allowed contribution.

How do I file?

TurboTax is aware of the e-filing issue that you are having and is currently working on a solution. An update to fix the issue is expected to be released around 4/5/2019.

Be sure to sign up for updates to be alerted as soon as there is a solution.  If you do not want to wait for an update, you have the option to paper file your tax returns as this is only an e-filing issue.

You can check out this TurboTax FAQ for more information: Excess 401(k) Contribution Preventing E-filing.

Will the update for the online turbo tax be done at the same time?

So is this issue resolved. My turboTax downloaded updates on the 5th, but the issue still seems to persist.

No, They sent a note saying they changed the interview questions but you still need to file by mail.  TBH I think Turbo Tax has done a REALLY POOR JOB with this problem.  I have seen several answers that conflict.
