I can not gety sons social security number because the social security administration is requiring me to send in original paperwork by mail. What do I do?

I'm told I need to send his original birth certificate and my original license and proof I am his father. I can not send these things over mail.

To obtain a SSN for your son, you will have to provide the Social Security Administration with original documents (e.g. birth certificate). You can either mail them or take them to the nearest Social Security Office. You will not be able to claim your son as a dependent on a tax return without a SSN.
