I am unable to put in my 1099-R from Cali Public Employees Retirement Systems and SSA-1099sm from Social Security? It tells me they can be found. HELP?

Or do i walk it in to a storefront location?

It sounds like you are trying to import the 1099s, and there is no import functionality with your issuer.  However, you can import a pdf from your computer, or a quick way to do this is to manually import the 1099s.

Here is how to do this in TurboTax Online:

  • Navigate to Federal > Wages & Income > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Add/Edit
  • Add a 1099-R
  • Select "Change how I enter my form"
  • On the next screen, it asks "How would you like to upload your 1099-R?" Select "Type it in myself"
  • Next it asks "Who gave you a 1099-R?", you can click "Financial institution or other provider" and select continue
  • Now, you can input your 1099-R provider's info, and continue through the rest of the interview.

@tdaryl

However...you should note that the SSA-1099sm does NOT go in with the regular 1099-R forms, there is a separate menu line for you to select to enter that information.  The menu line indicates that it is for SSA-1099 and RRB-1099 forms

If you do not see the whole list of Income menu items...look for the text below what you have entered....to select a text line that says something like "See more Income items"....or something like that.
