I have deleted and re-entered the 1099 NEC. There is a line on the error that something is supposed to appear from Schedule C in a worksheet. The income from the NEC appears and the line appears to be editable but I have no idea what goes in there. Caught in a loop and don't know how to get out of it. ARGH!
There are two ways you can try again to enter and link your 1099-NEC to a Schedule C.
METHOD #1:
Once you input your 1099-NEC, you must answer all of the questions after the input screen so it flows through to your Schedule C. If it has not been assigned, TurboTax will give you an error message.
To assign your 1099-NEC to a Schedule C, please follow the steps below:
To confirm your 1099-NEC was linked to your Schedule C, please follow the instructions below:
METHOD #2:
If that does not fix the error message for you, you can add your 1099-NEC directly on your Schedule C screens.
To do so, please follow the steps below:
If Method #2 works for you, please remove all 1099-NEC's entered when completing Method #1.
Thank you for your help and advice. I went through the process several times. I found multiple instances of the NEC inserted (I don't know how that happened because I kept deleting things) and finally the last time, there were two in the list but one of them actually said "Missing information". It opened up to show my name missing on the form fields. So weird! Once I did that, it took the NEC and everything was fine.
Mystery exists but problem solved! Thank you!
