I am not contributing to an employer 401K plan and I cannot figure out how to get the $6500 deduction I made to my IRA.

I went through the deduction routine in TurboTax and it said because I was contributing through an employer plan (which I am not) and made over $118,00 I could not deduct this. I know this is not so but don't know how to make a correction.

Look for the Retirement Plan box on your W2.  If it is checked, that means your employer offers a retirement plan. This is considered "covered" by a plan, even if you did not participate.

You may have checked that box on the W2 screen by accident.  (see screenshot)

If removing it doesn't work, try deleting the entire W2 and then re-entering it manually.
