I'm not sure what the problem is. If you are active military and contributing to the TSP, that should be a payroll deduction (or not if ROTH).
Unless you're contributing to an IRA (or spousal IRA) in addition to the TSP, you shouldn't have to answer any questions about IRA at all.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but you must have checked a box stating you were contributing to an IRA. Review your input and make sure you're aren't answering that you contributed to an IRA.
When the program asks if you made a retirement contribution, answer 'No".
The amount you contribute to your Thrift Savings Account is already pre-tax. It is not included in Box 1 of your W-2.
Problem is the program never asked me if I made a retirement contribution . I was never prompted with that question .. that’s why I’m so confused lol
You shouldn't have the IRA contribution worksheet in your program if you did not make an IRA contribution. I suggest you delete the worksheet.
A simple way to delete forms and worksheets in TurboTax online is to use the Tax Tools menu option, which is on your left menu bar when you are working in your program. Then, choose Tools and then Delete a form. Look for the IRA contribution wks and delete it.
If you are working in the download TurboTax program, use the Forms Mode on your menu bar to bring up the form you want to delete, then choose the Delete Form option at the bottom of the form.
