I am filing taxes for my first year of OPT, I’m exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes. Should TurboTax provide an option to reflect this exemption?

If you are a non-resident F-1 student in a OPT program, you should file your taxes on form 1040-NR.

TurboTax doesn't support IRS Form 1040-NR (U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return).

However, we have partnered with Sprintax to offer both federal and state tax preparation for international students, scholars, and nonresident foreign professionals.

Please visit the TurboTax/Sprintax site for more info.
