During the review step for my return, I'm asked to enter the IRS's date of determination, but I haven't received an answer to my SS-8 yet. Reason code 'A' is shown, and I cannot change it. When I go back to the 1099-NEC, it has reset to saying I've received confirmation from the IRS, which would mean entering reason A. I answered the questions properly again, but it continues to revert back to the 'confirmed' status. How can I change this?
Have you tried deleting the entire form and re-entering it?
Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:
Reason codes. For each firm listed below, enter in column (c) the applicable reason code for filing this form. If none of the reason codes apply to you, but you believe you should have been treated as an employee, enter reason code G, and file Form SS-8 on or before the date you file your tax return.
What do you do if you picked "G I filed Form SS-8 with the IRS and haven’t received a reply", but when you run the error check on your return it keeps saying "Form 1099-NEC Worksheet (Employer Name): Determination date should have a date entered".
I don't have a date because the IRS hasn't replied. Last year I didn't get my final answer from the IRS until September or October. I have seven Form SS-8's that were filed that I haven't heard back on yet. Will Turbotax let me submit my electronic file with these errors. Can I ignore them or do I need to enter something in the field, even if it isn't a date, to make the software happy.
If you absolutely can't e-file, enter the date as a work-around.
O.k if I understand your reply you are saying try to file it without the SS8 determination dates and see if it will go through. But if it won't, you say to enter the date. Do I just make up a date? The IRS has not replied so I do not have a determination date.
