I am at the section asking for employment status on dec. 31. My wife and I are filing jointly. It shows options for my status, but for my wife it only says retired, none?

Not sure where you are trying to enter "employment status"----there is no place on a tax return to enter that.   If you are in MY INFO and it is asking for "occupation" you can enter anything you want to.  Occupation is only used for statistical purposes by the IRS; it has no effect on your tax due or refund.
