I accidentally chose to receive Retirement Savings Contribution Credit and I need to remove the credit that is listed so I don't need to buy the upgraded TurboTax for $40

No matter how many times I go back to change my answer to NO, it does not remove the credit, and is forcing me to buy the upgraded version.

You qualify for the credit if you’re:

  • 18 or older
  • Not a full-time student
  • Not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return

If you go through that section and indicate you are a full-time student, you won't be eligible for the credit.  But if the credit is worth more, you should take it.   You can indicate your student status in your personal information or in the Retirement Savings Contribution Credit questions (in the Deductions and Credits section).
