We have a retirement distribution that was a RMA. The company would not allow us to directly rollover the amount into an IRA. They insisted on depositing the funds (with taxes taken out) into our bank account. We rolled that money into a IRA (within the 60 day allowance). I know that it is non-taxable, but I can not seem to get it to work in TurboTax. If I manually put in G in the second box in 7, we get the taxes back, but it comes up as error (since it isn't on the the company's 1099-R) when I tried to file. I went into the long form, saw the rollover option, and I tried to fill in that, but that doesn't seem to work (taxes went up). In fact some of the boxes would no allow me to enter anything. How can I make this work?
If you mean it was a RMD you can not roll over an RMD. You have to take the cash and pay tax on it. What code is in box 7? How old are you or your spouse? Whose account was it from?
