How should I proceed if I am missing a 1099 form and the employer is refusing to send it?

Please clarify your question.

We would need more information to completely answer your question.

  • What type of 1099 do you need?
  • What did you do to earn or get the money?
  • How much is it for? ( round estimate )

Please contact us again and provide some additional details.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, see the details below.

It's a 1099-MISC form, for a film production that I worked on as a production assistant.

The estimate is $2,500

This money is taxable and can be reported without a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC.

Log into TurboTax.

  1. Under Federal
  2. Go to Wages & Income
  3. On the main menu, scroll to the very bottom.
  4. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  5. On the next menu choose
  6. Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099
  7. The next screen shows Other Wages Received
    1. You had other earned income
    2. Answer Yes.
  8. Continue the interview.

Please contact us again with any additional questions.

What happens if the employer already held the taxes?

When I add this amount with the steps suggested, it shows that I have to pay taxes again, for the net amount that I received.

Is there anything else I can do, to avoid paying taxes twice?

Maybe you are suppose to get a W2 instead of a 1099NEC.  What taxes did they take out?

You can enter the withholding.  I recently saw a post saying how to enter withholding.  I'll look for it.

Georgia tax deduction of 5.75% per the deal memo, and I believe they also withheld social security and medicare taxes because the checks don't match the invoices, there's a big difference, but they didn't share the paystubs, so I can't confirm exactly what was withheld.

You can enter state tax withheld in the federal Deductions and Credits section of the program.

  1. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  2. Locate Other Income Taxes
  3. Start/edit
  4. Scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2023
  5. Locate withholding not already entered on a w2 or 1099
  6. start/edit
  7. yes
  8. select GA from the dropdown
  9. enter the amount of tax paid
  10. continue

Keep track of all your paperwork in case you need to prove some things.
