How long does it take to cancel social security tax withholding?

You mean from your social security benefit checks?  You would have to ask SS that.

I sent in my cancellation of withholding on 9/29/17.  Today's deposit still showed withholding.  Tried to call SSA and there was no one available to take my call, try later....  Frustrating.

Probably takes a month or two.  I would wait until the next deposit and see.

It took two months when I did it about three years ago.
