How do you not file a retirement savings credit? It costs more to upgrade and file with the credit then what the credit is for so its not worth filing it.

My retirement savings credit is going to get me back $61 but to file retirement savings credit you have to upgrade from. The basic to the advanced which costs $39 for each state and federal meaning id loose $20 to turbo tax. How do I not file the retirement savings

Go back to My Info and change your occupation to Student as that will remove the Saver's Credit and allow you to continue to use the Free edition.

Click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen

This did not take off the retirement savings contributions credit that's keeping me from filing free

You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student.  The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.  The answer provided in the personal-information section is used to determine other credits.

if your income is low enough, you should not be paying for tax software.

See "Free File" page at IRS.gov
