How do I report income from a foreign national pension from the countries that doesn't have special treaty ?

I will start receiving a tiny amount of national pension from Japan where I worked for about ten  years, starting this year (2022). It's much less than $10k per year.

As far as I know, Japan is not one of the countries that U.S. government allows a special treatment in for income reporting purpose. So I would have to report it but where do I enter this in TurboTax Desktop? Do I also need to make a substitute 1099-R. Will Turbotax Desktop automatically prompt this?

You report your foreign pension under less common income.

  • Open your TurboTax Desktop
  •
  • Click on Wages and Income
  •
  • Click on the less common income
  •
  • Click on Miscellaneous income
  •
  • Click on other reportable income
  •
  • Enter the foreign pension
