How do I report a bug I found on the 2024 Deluxe product? On the W-2 field 12 S contribution under Simple plan is treated as Roth Simple plan contribution.

What code is in box 12 of your W-2?

  • It should be AA, BB or FF
  • These are the codes for a ROTH contribution

I used code S for Simple, which isn't a Roth.  It keeps treating this amount as a Roth IRA.

there is still a bug.  The Simple IRA amount (Code S) entered on the W-2  form is included in the 2024 Taxpayer Roth IRA contributions on the IRA information worksheet.  This isn't a Roth contribution and shouldn't be treated as such.

Please review your W-2 entry screens to eliminate the Roth entry on the IRA worksheet. Go to:

  1. Wages & Income
  2. Select Edit by your W-2 and continue through the screens until you get to: Tell us more about your retirement contributions
  3. Make sure you enter 0 in the space Enter your SIMPLE Roth IRA contributions  if your contribution DID NOT go to a SIMPLE Roth IRA.

This will eliminate the entry of the Roth IRA on the IRA worksheet.
