To remove the credit, you'll need to delete Form 8880, Credit for Qualified Retirement Savings Contributions.

Please see the TurboTax Help article "How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?" for guidance.

The previous answer is incorrect. If you remove this form, TurboTax will still see you have a Retirement Savings Contribution from box 12a (code 12D) of your W-2. The only way to avoid paying $60 for Deluxe and another $50 for a state, is to delete this **bleep**ty and deceptive Turbo Tax account and get a real free filing solution at the IRS website: https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/browse-all-offers

The Saver's Credit is a 'non-refundable' credit. That means this credit can reduce the tax you owe to zero, but it can't provide you with a tax refund.

To remove the credit :

  • Login to your account.
  • Select Federal from the left menu.
  • Go to Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down to Retirement savings contribution credit in the Retirement and Investments section
  • Continue to the screen Retirement savings contribution credit and answer Yes to the question "Were you a full time student during any five month in 2020?"

You won't qualify for the credit if you check that you were a full time student.
