How do I record payments I received from the Mexican social security (IMSS)?

Since this income is like Social Security, you would enter the income (in U.S. dollars) in ‌the  Social Security section of the program.

 

You can find this section in the personal income section of your TurboTax.  If you go to Your 2023 Income Summary, scroll down until you see this section:

 

 

 

All foreign taxes paid are entered in the same place in TurboTax as per the instructions below. 

 

To report the foreign tax credit, you will enter foreign tax credit in the search box at the top of the page and click the Jump to link

 

It will look like this:

 

 

Then follow these instructions:

 

1. Answer Yes, you paid foreign taxes and follow the prompts regarding foreign interest and dividends
2. Select yes that you have reported all your foreign income in TurboTax
3. You will be asked to choose a deduction or credit? Choose credit if you are not itemizing. You can try it both ways and determine which is best for you. 
4. Answer the question about the "Simplified Limitation Election"
5. Choose the type of income 
6. Choose Mexico for your country
7. Enter a description - like "Social Security pension"
8. Enter the amount of income that you reported in your Social Security section of TurboTax.
9. Follow the prompts until you have completed this section
