How do I make sure TurboTax is correctly removing the $30,000 Military Benefits Subtraction from my Virginia state taxable income?

Take a look at your tax return. Your VA tax return: 

• Form 760 shows subtractions on line 7 for the Sch ADJ. 
• Sch ADJ shows military as a code 60 on line 6.

If you claim this subtraction, you can’t claim another subtraction, deduction, credit, or exemption for the same income.

 

You want to look at all worksheets as well. Choose to see everything, not just forms.

To print or view  your forms:

• In desktop, switch to Forms Mode. 
• For online:
  1. On the left side, select  Tax Tools
  2. Select Print center
  3. Select Print, save or preview this year's return
  4. If you have not paid, select pay now.
