How do I know how much I can claim in education expenses towards an ira withdraw
I'm trying to determine if I solely use Line 2 from the 1098-t Form for 2016 or can I add in the costs identified as 2016 expenses on the 2015 form that had box 7 checked?

You can claim all the expenses that were paid in 2016.
If the winter 2016 tuition was paid in 2015, you can't claim it.
If it was paid in 2016, you can.
Check the student's school account statement for 2016.
