What state do you live in ?

Only 10 states exclude all federal, state, and local pension income from taxation:

  • Alabama
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan (for taxpayers born before 1946)
  • Mississippi
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania13

An additional five states offer exclusions for this type of income, depending on certain qualifiers such as age and AGI: Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Maine, and Missouri.

Perhaps....but since you still have failed to indicate which state you are preparing taxes for, there's very little anyone can do to help.   Every state that exempts certain forms of State or Federal pensions has sometimes wildly different ways to indicate that in the software.   So someone familiar with that state's interview would need to respond.....once they know... WHICH STATE ?
