How do I enter more than one 1099R from 2 different companies in turbo tax. I downloaded my 401K info, but I also got retirement income from a previous employer.

To add two 1099-Rs:

  • Go to Federal Taxes > Wages & Income
  • Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section
  • Click Revisit next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  • On the Your 1099-R Entries screen, click + Add Another 1099-R.
  • On the next screen, click I'll type it in myself
  • On the Tell Us Which 1099-R You Have screen, select the type of form that you have and then select who the form belongs to.
  • Click Continue and then you will be able to enter your 1099-R information.

I have 5 1099-R accounts, one with Morgan Stanley which I entered, and four with Valic. However, after entering the Morgan Stanley form there was no prompt to enter another and the program went to the next section on social security. Please advise.

Go back to Retirement Plans & Social Security

  • Select IRA, 401(K), Pension Plans (1099-R)
  • You should see the Morgan Stanley that you previously entered
  • You can now Add Another 1099-R
